Space42 Turns Five SAR Satellites Into A Sovereign Data Test

Space42 Adds Three Live SAR Satellites

Space42 said Foresight-3, Foresight-4 and Foresight-5 are now fully operational, expanding its Foresight Earth Observation constellation to five Synthetic Aperture Radar satellites.

The company is positioning the network as a sovereign geospatial capability for continuous data acquisition and decision-grade intelligence.

The satellites were manufactured with ICEYE in Finland.

Space42 said critical integration and testing were completed at its Space Systems Assembly, Integration and Testing facility in Abu Dhabi, giving the update a local industrial component as well as an orbital milestone.

Abu Dhabi Keeps The Integration Work At Home

Space42 said the arrangement supports technology transfer, sustainable access to capability and localization of the supply chain.

Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42, said the live satellites expand sovereign Earth observation with greater speed and consistency for governments, industries and partners worldwide.

The company says the constellation can provide high-resolution SAR data for natural resource monitoring, disaster response, national security, environmental intelligence, infrastructure management and maritime domain awareness.

SAR satellites can collect imagery in conditions where optical systems face limits, making the constellation relevant to agencies and industrial users that need regular observation rather than one-off images.

Geospatial Data Has To Become A Repeatable Service

Space42 links the constellation to premium geospatial data and to the UAE's position in a mission-critical industry.

The Abu Dhabi AIT work also gives the programme a domestic capability marker: the satellites are not only launched assets, but part of a local space-systems workflow that includes integration and testing.

Commercial proof now depends on customers, contracts and repeatable data products.

Space42 did not publish revenue from the Foresight constellation or name specific new government or industry customers tied to the three satellites entering operation.

For Abu Dhabi's space and AI economy, the operating burden is whether five SAR satellites and a local integration facility can turn sovereign Earth observation into durable geospatial services for public-sector and industrial users.
