Ajman Uses Agentic AI For Headless Trade Licence Renewal
Economy Middle East reported that Ajman completed the UAE’s first government transaction to renew a trade licence using Agentic AI, starting with AjmanOne notifications, cross-entity lease checks and a headless service model.

A UAE emirate has moved agentic AI from a pilot concept into a government transaction, using a headless service model to renew a trade licence with minimal customer effort.
Economy Middle East reported that the emirate's government, represented by the Department of Digital Ajman, completed what it described as the UAE's first government transaction to renew a trade licence using Agentic AI.
The first phase is focused on trade licence renewal through the Department of Economic Development.
Unified App Assistant Starts With Trade Licence Renewal
The service uses the unified AjmanOne government app as the customer entry point.
Customers are automatically notified before a licence expires and directed to the intelligent assistant to complete the renewal process.
The digital department developed the infrastructure for a model that identifies customer needs, prepares the service journey, requests approval and coordinates procedures across relevant entities.
That makes the service headless in practical terms: the transaction can move through government systems without requiring the customer to manage each step separately.
Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, framed the launch as part of the emirate's Artificial Intelligence Program.
His statement linked the project to governance, trust, accountability and data protection.
Lease Checks Become Part Of The Workflow
The model also connects with the Municipality and Planning Department when a trade licence renewal depends on a valid commercial lease.
If a lease renewal is required, customers are guided through that process before the trade licence renewal continues automatically.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Department of Economic Development, presented the easier investor journey as a competitiveness measure for the emirate.
Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department, described the model as cross-government integration that reduces movement between entities and procedures.
Governance Sets The Scaling Test
The Department of Digital Ajman said the headless-service model can operate across existing and future digital channels while keeping a unified customer experience.
The department listed governance, high-quality data, secure system integration, continuous monitoring and human oversight where required as conditions for trusted customer-facing services.
Sheikh Rashid bin Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the digital department, set the goal as moving beyond services that wait for customers and toward systems that reach users proactively, understand needs and coordinate processes in the background.
The launch supports the Vision 2030, Ajman for People programme.
The unresolved evidence is whether the same model can handle services with more agencies, exception handling, audit trails and human review than a trade licence renewal requires.
