Google launched Business Agent for Leads in India as a Gemini-powered Search ad format that can chat with users on the search page. The company cited $77.25 billion in first-quarter ad revenue and several India ad metrics, but did not disclose pricing, wider rollout dates or independent lead-quality validation.

Google is putting a Gemini-powered agent inside Search ads in India, moving one of its core advertising products from campaign automation towards live conversations with potential customers.
The Google AI agent Search ads India beta starts with Business Agent for Leads, but Google did not disclose wider rollout timing, pricing for advertisers or independent validation of lead quality.
Lead-Generation Agent Starts In India Beta
Google launched Business Agent for Leads as a Search ad format that lets users chat with an AI agent without leaving the search page.
The company said the agent is trained on an advertiser's website and is designed to turn conversations into qualified leads.
Google said India is the beta market for the feature.
The company gave Indian edtech platform Upgrad early access to the tool for prospective-student engagement, but it did not publish Upgrad conversion data in the announcement.
Roma Datta Chobey, Managing Director for Connected Consumer Commerce at Google India, said Gemini is becoming the engine across Google's advertising products as the company moves from marketing automation to marketing intelligence.
Her statement framed the launch as part of an agentic advertising shift rather than a single ad-unit update.
Ask Advisor Pulls Data From Google Ads And Analytics
Google also introduced Ask Advisor, a Gemini-powered agent that gives marketers personalised recommendations on reaching business goals.
The company said the agent gathers insights across Google Ads, Google Analytics and Google Marketing Platform, with Merchant Center support planned later.
The launch gives marketers more automation inside Google's own advertising stack.
Google said Asset Studio now lets merchants generate brand-accurate ad assets through natural-language descriptions and can import marketing briefs, reference images and brand guidelines to customise text, image or video ads.
Google also said AI Brief interprets marketing briefs, refers to brand guardrails and shows real-time ad previews that advertisers can adjust.
Dynamic Remarketing builds on Retention Only Mode in Performance Max to re-engage lapsed or loyal customers with tailored creative.
Google Reported $77.25 Billion In First-Quarter Ad Revenue
Google linked the launch to a larger shift in advertising interfaces as AI search changes user behaviour.
The company said queries in AI Mode are three times longer than traditional search queries, and it cited India user research saying 84 per cent of users made faster decisions and 87 per cent made more confident decisions using AI Mode.
Google reported $77.25 billion in advertising revenue for Q1 2026.
Google reported that its advertising revenue increased 15.5 per cent year over year.
Google also reported $9.88 billion in YouTube ad revenue for the quarter.
Google also said Gemini reduces irrelevant ads by 40 per cent.
Chobey said longer and deeper agentic queries give brands more opportunity to match user intent by using AI, but Google did not publish the methodology behind the irrelevant-ad reduction claim.
YouTube BrandStack Was Built In India
Google launched YouTube BrandStack, an automated solution conceptualised and built in India to unify campaign planning, buying and measurement.
The company said Axis Max Life Insurance was the first to deploy BrandStack with YouTube Connected TV during the cricket season.
Google said Axis Max Life Insurance recorded an 18.4 per cent increase in brand searches.
Google also said the campaign produced 23 per cent more quality leads than traditional TV markets, while YouTube delivers 1.9 times more return on investment of total media compared with traditional OTT platforms and linear TV.
The company added YouTube Affiliate Partnerships Boost, a format that lets brands incorporate creator content about their products into campaigns.
Asked about the creator economy as AI-generated ad assets expand, Google said creator storytelling and AI both have roles because brand trust still depends on consumer resonance.
Universal Commerce Protocol Is Planned For India
Google said it is working with Indian e-commerce firms, including Walmart-backed Flipkart, to bring the Universal Commerce Protocol to India.
The company described UCP, launched in January, as an open standard for a common language between AI agents and online shopping systems.
AI Max for Shopping will use Merchant Center feed context to understand products and improve campaign impact.
Google said AI Max for Search Campaigns is currently its fastest-growing AI-powered Search Ads product.
Demand Gen now extends to Google Maps, letting advertisers reach potential customers near or entering stores.
Google also said Meridian, its open-source marketing mix model, has been integrated into Google Analytics 360, and Merchant Center will add AI performance insights in the coming months.
Google did not disclose pricing, general availability dates outside the India beta, the methodology for the 40 per cent irrelevant-ad reduction, audited lead-quality results, advertiser opt-out settings, or independent ROI validation for the new Gemini-powered advertising tools.
